Personalized Prenatal Care...Visits will usually last an hour because we want to take the time to get to know you. During this time we will focus on nutrition, listen to your baby's heartbeat, measure your belly, assess your vital signs, as well as provide education, support and answer any questions you may have regarding your pregnancy and upcoming birth. All prenatal diagnostic tests will be offered to you and are optional. Informed consent will be offered for all clinical procedures and testing. We want you to feel comfortable with us because we know how important this will be on your special day! Prenatal visits will occur monthly until 28 weeks, bi-weekly until 36 weeks and weekly until the birth of your baby.
Home Birth...Birthing in the comfort and convenience of familiar surroundings provides the optimal welcoming environment for both mom and baby. When you go into labor, we will come when you are ready for us. We will be there offering encouragement and support as needed, including suggestions to help labor progress, position changes, rest or just private time alone with you and your family. You will be encouraged to eat and drink throughout labor as midwives believe this is necessary for energy and strength. We are there to witness your experience and to assess the progress of labor and birth while ensuring that you and your baby are safe!
We encourage women to believe in their bodies and trust their instincts. If concerns arise, we will let you know and offer you natural remedies when applicable or we will discuss your options for transfer of care. In the case of an emergency, we have all the equipment necessary to stabilize the situation until we can get you to the hospital for advanced care. Most often, we have a really beautiful, natural and empowering birth!
Water Birth...Many women have discovered the benefits of laboring and birthing in water. There are several options for the use of water in labor and birth. These include the shower, bathtub, hot tub, or birthing pool. Some women love the shower pulsating on their back, and others ease into the warm water of the birth tub and experience instant relief. The benefits of birthing in water include an increased sense of privacy, relaxion of pelvic floor muscles leading,decreased risk of tearing, lowers blood pressure, greater comfort and less pain leading to a more efficient labor and a gentle transition for baby.

Postpartum Care... Immediately following the birth of your baby we will be there to make certain you and your baby are stable. We encourage skin to skin contact, breastfeeding, bonding with the family, as well as a really gentle touch and atmosphere so that the first moments with your baby will be as special as possible. When you are ready, we will do a full newborn exam right by your side. We will be there providing assistance by witnessing and respecting your experience. If you or your baby needs clinical support, I am trained and qualified to provide assistance as needed! We will generally stay 2-3 hrs after the birth, longer if necessary. Follow up care will be given between 24-36 hrs, 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks and 6 weeks. During these appointments we will assess your postpartum health, provide assistance with breastfeeding as well as monitor the growth and well being of your new baby. All postpartum care within the first 3 weeks is done in the comfort of your home so that you can focus on rest and getting to know your newest family member.

Well-woman Care...We are happy to welcome women of all ages to our practice for their well woman gynecology care. Annual examinations are recommended to assist women in maintaining optimum health. During these visits, we will thoroughly review your health history. Pap smears, breast exams and other laboratory tests are performed as indicated. Annual Women’s health examinations provide an excellent opportunity for you to get acquainted with midwives. We enjoy educating women and actively supporting them in their heatlh care.
